I too just discovered Kris Pinot Grigio 08 when friends brought it with them as a dinner gift. I am not fond of Pinot Grigio preferring chardonays. But this Kris has a really delightful taste with more body than most other Pinots. I’m certainly going to continue buying it.

The sentimental aspects of those types of wine gifts are certainly part of the allure, I know for me and my wife we enjoy the fact that those wine gifts are enjoyed over a more extended time period then many others. The refrigerator is really pretty cool.

I asked Santa for a wine cellar… but he needs to get me a house that will accomodate one first. Good idea for an article!

Sounds like a fun lunch! I completely agree with the half bottle selection – really great for people dining alone at a bar, traveling on business, etc.

Next time you’re in New York, check out celeb chef Daniel Boulud’s DBGB. Great (but expensive) foie gras burger and a somewhat affordable wine list. Paired it with a Daniel Bruce Petite Sirah. Rock & Roll!
