In Galacia, the most north-western part of Spain, Rias Baixas can be very drinkable. The wines are made from the Albariño grape, and many are cold-fermented to maintain freshness, the antithesis of old white Rioja. My top wines: Lagar de Cervera.

A few things to look for: Roses from Tavel (France) as well as those from California (Donelan, Ampelos & Bonny Doon are my favs).

But why limiting your choice to the Big Brothers? There are plenty of little cognac houses that stand out for more quality at a lower price than Henny &C.
I’m sure that it’s easy to find them in the US too. Just have a look around, and then drink it neat ;) .
